Suzan Borazjani contributed as a Senior Designer and served as Project Manager during the construction phase of UC San Diego’s campus transformation—an effort that has drawn wide attention for its innovative design and public impact.

The project was central to UC San Diego’s broader vision to foster innovation, collaboration, and public engagement through campus planning. The opening of the Design and Innovation Building marked a major milestone—bringing together students, researchers, and industry partners to turn ideas into startups (UCSD News). This was followed by broader reporting on how these new spaces are enabling interdisciplinary work and real-world impact (UCSD News – Startups).

The project was also highlighted during the Urban Land Institute’s 2022 Spring Meeting as an example of how campus design can strengthen public connectivity—through improved access, open space, and thoughtful integration with transit.

A short video produced by UC San Diego offers a glimpse into the vision behind the Design and Innovation Building and its role in shaping a more collaborative, outward-facing university environment.
